How to Move at Island Pace

You can always spot the ones who just arrived. Their pace is too fast. Their shoulders too high. Give it a day. The island will teach them.

There’s a rhythm here. A slowness that isn’t lazy, but intentional. You feel it in the way the morning light moves through linen curtains. In the pauses between conversations. In the quiet hours after lunch.

Some people struggle with it at first. They arrive with itineraries, time blocks, expectations. They want to do the island. But this place doesn’t respond to pressure.

We often advise: give yourself to the pace. Let the island set your tempo.

Start later. Eat slower. Let a moment breathe before you fill it.

One client came to us for a full schedule, boat one day, market the next, tasting menu every evening. We gave them what they asked for. But after two days, they cancelled everything.

Instead, we brought them coffee at 10:30. A masseuse at noon. A silent chef who cooks barefoot and doesn’t need recipes.

By the end of the week, they stopped asking what time it was.
